The Tingley Training Band played at the Churwell Primary School Summer Gala on Saturday and had a lovely time. A good audience gathered as we played and were very encouraging. We also had a good time with some of the children at the gala, showing them how to make glorious noises from several brass instruments during the interval.

  • First Training Band Concert of the season

Posted on June 12th, 2011 admin No comments

Our training band had a good start to their busy summer season, playing at Morley Town Centre’s band stand on Saturday. Once again, the weather held out for us and we had many nice comments about our playing.

The band will be playing 5 more concerts in June/July, touring around the local primary school galas, so our training band practices have now stopped for the summer. We will resume the practices in September – hopefully with some new members!

  • Tingley’s Concert Season gets a good start

The Main Band played their first concert of the season at Dartmouth Park in Morley in lovely sunshine.

The beautiful bandstand in the park makes a lovely setting for brass band music, traditional and modern.

The band debuted two new pieces – Classical Brass and the Dr Who Theme as well as playing some of our old favourites.

The training band get started on their busy summer programme next week in Morley Town Centre. Hope to see your there!

  • Fountain Primary School Gala

Tingley Brass Band’s training band (supported by several Senior Band members) opened the Gala at Fountain Primary School and also played a further set later in the afternoon.

A table was set up at the Gala with several Brass instruments available for people to “have a blow” and the sound of brass blew out in joyous cocophony as adults and children alike delighted in getting their first notes out of the instruments.

Several people showed an interest in coming along and joining our training band and we hope to see them at our next training session on 10th July.

We hope to repeat this experiment again in Morley Town Centre next weekend!
